Vooshvazool

Night Hobs are a species in Michael Ende's novel The Neverending Story.

They are a race of nocturnal humanoids from Fantastica that reside in the Southern regions. They have sharp features, wild hair and wear drab clothing.

The most notable Night Hob was Vooshvazool who was sent on a mission to the Ivory Tower.

Folklore[]

A hob is a type of small mythological household spirit in the folklore of the north and midlands of England, especially on the Anglo-Scottish border. "Hob" is a rustic name for ‘countryside goblin’. Hobs have been described as small, hairy, wizened men.

Physical description[]

"No more than twice the size of the Will-'o-the-whisp, he looked like a pitch-black, furry caterpillar sitting up. He had little pink hands, with which he gestured violently as he spoke, and below his tousled black hair two big round eyes glowed like moons in what was presumably his face...unusual mouth...a large bat..." - description from The Neverending Story.
